The relays which are connected to the ECU (EMS, Fuel Pump, Fan) are designed specifically for use with ECU and have special Suppression design to protect the ECU from damaging spikes during turn-off.
This is one area it would be advisable to stick with OEM spec for these components.

I carry 2 OEM spares myself. One starter relay and one standard relay for all the others which are the same part number. They are not that pricy from Triumph, so I think it is good advise to stay with the original part. Only in a pinch to get back on the road would I go with an off the shelf relay.
