last night i decided to unwrap the rebands and fix the heat sheild mounting pionts as they were drilled through the pipe (bloody stupid idea if you ask me) the heat sheild bolts would get sooo hot that the carbon fibre heat sheild would burn - not happy.
Anyway after removing the lava wrap from the headerpipes, I noticed the ceramic coating was rusting in places (crap job if you ask me) I ground off the welded nuts and tried to tig weld new boss kits to the pipe, turns out to be very difficult with ceramic coating on the inside ofthe pipe.

Not wanting to throw stones but the issues we've seen with pretty much every brand of headers for Rockets, albeit generally isolated examples - and with the ones made by Sam (@travelguy ) being notable exceptions - highlight to me what a good job Triumph did with the stock header. Sure they could flow better but I'm not aware of any quality issues.

I am mainly ticked off with the holes drilled through the pipe - just lazy

Mate,
Why not weld on some appropriate nuts to screw the shield(s) into?
I be liking my CES just a tad more . . . :p:D

That heat wrap crap makes a mess that's for sure. Pity it's so expensive to have a proper steel heat shield made. Stepping the heat shield out and away from the headers seems to have solved the hot-leg problem with my Rebands. Had to have new fittings welded onto the headers .. pain in the ass I agree.

If the threads supplied with the pipe are still good I think I would just add some spacers between the weld on nuts and the heat shield to space her out a bit more. Of course if the weld on nuts are toast then your dealing with the pain in the arse welding. I had to do some repairs on my Predators do to the same problem with the heat shield mounts. Just a couple though. I did have to grind the ceramic coating off to get a good weld. I am Thankful the pipe was stainless so it did not rust and also luck it was all under the heat shield and could not be seen.
Other then the two mount nuts I must say Sam's welding was top notch. To bad he quit making pipes and did not make a set with larger header pipes.

My stock manifold self destructed starting at the heatshield mount near the 02 sensor. Had the pipes wrapped and it seemed to add to the problem. The welds failed where 2 and3 join 1, also the metal became brittle and wafer thin, when I finally unwrapped them it fell apart in 3 pieces, what a mess
