I have never been burned and i have the same setup as you :thumbsdown: Guess ive just learned to avoid the hot bits
Yeah the Sam's Headers were never a burny problem except the heat shield bolt heads did get quite hot and needed to be avoided but the double skin heat shield were great

To be honest, I was chit chatting whilst laying the bike over onto the side stand. I stepped off onto the ground with my left foot (still chit chatting) and my right ankle flopped onto the header, near the CES logo plate, and cooked until the pain woke me up to what I was doing.

My old Sam's headers and Staintunes with custom collector are tucked away waiting for someone to buy them he will be getting a bargain he just needs to save the cash, if he changes his mind I will put up for sale on here.
I picked up another set of Mufflers at a reasonable price the year before last and had them sitting there waiting for this project Trev at CES did an amazing job of cutting the inlet side of muffler and making the bends etc so the mufflers line up with the mufflers perfectly (He could do the same to yours if you asked him nicely).
My CES headers start out the same as a set that are going into a single muffler so they are from the head 1 3/4 header primary tube into the merge collector comming out at 2 1/4 secondary then back into a reverse merge collector with one of the collector come straight out into a bend these tubes are back to 1 3/4 tube then into the mufflers which have 1 1/2 outlet the resulting Note s F***ing Awesome ... I kid you not.
They are little louder at low revs with a nice Rumble then into a absolutely fabulous roar when I open it up, I like the sound a little to much as a couple of the local boys in blue that luckily I know have given me that "back of a bit look", actually just Thursday one of the local hardly riders (who owns the local fish market and has a blinged up FatBoy called out to me when walking past his shop and said "was that you that passed me at and then went into Surfside" I said Yeah why" and he said "I was in that black 4x4 ute you rounded up and ....F***! that thing sounds F***ing great" might be able to convert him yet.
here is another picture or two of the header which the first picture proves that Leslie (Trev's lovely wife) is a sadist ..... took me best part of an hour to get in to the headers, I think she must have put half of the QLD's bubble wrap supply on there ..... she sure know's how to wrap them Good, the modified Mufflers are in the box with even more bubble wrap:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

@HansO
Nice write up, M8. You ain't just a kidding about Leslie's packing job! :thumbsup:
I flashed back to being a kid at Christmas, tearing away the bubble wrap piece by piece which terribly exacerbated the foreplay of my getting into my CES!!! :eek: :p
I see you have retained the stock look of two cans on the right. Is there also a can on the left, or has it been eliminated? Disregard that I now see the shiny crossover! DOH!
Let us know how your leg fares when your right foot is on the engine guard peg.?
Them CES be handsome f*ckers, eh?

done about 3,000km with them so far, in fact last Thursday's short run was up to Oaks flat about 350km round trip, No dramas at all, my legs don't get any closer while on highway pegs

yup got 3 inches on you there ol buddy, gets some warm air on the underside of legs but not uncomfortable, which is something I used to get even with the double skin heat shield on the Sams headers .... after all it is an exhaust system
