Anyone remove one of these while tire is still on the bike or does the tire have to be removed from the rim?

Apparently when the sealed my C/T to the rim . . . what ever silicone they used to make that seal has now clogged up my tire valve and even with the stem out you can't get any air in or out.  :x

Thoughts?

The valve is held underneath by a small screw or nut, I can't remember which, so the tire must either be deflated and you have skinny little hands and press the sidewall in enough to reach the screw and unscrew it, then remove it, (which I don't think is possible), or you have to remove the tire to remove the valve. Suggestion, can you remove the core and maybe run a piece of thin wire through the clog? Why the hell did they seal your tire with silicone?

Because they must have roughed up the edges when they put it on the first time and it kept leaking down. They even wanted to charge me $85!!! to fix a seal that was their mount to begin with. Dealers . . . go figure.

I've got the valve out . . . and have been soaking the stem with a Q-Tip soaked in Acetone. No penetration yet.

Need some firm wire to try and fish down in it like you said.

Don't know how much air is in it, but if I had to guess I'd say it's probably down a few pounds from 30. Thanks for the quick response!

Acetone won't touch cured silicone, mate.

What about a small twist drill bit? Hand held, of course!

That really sucks! If you have the Schrader valve out, then you could force a bamboo skewer in to clear the blockage. I recommend bamboo or stiff nylon because you don't want to damage the internal threads the Schrader valve

Your's probably looks like this...

Your best bet, though, is to have the tire removed and that junk cleaned out 'cause if you ever over-inflate your tire, you risk a piece of that debris becoming lodged in sealing area, as shown in the graphic image. 8)

I'll bet a steak they put the tire on backwards and tore the bead taking it off to turn it around!!!!
A bafoon tire guy did that to mine and I'll bet you got cable showing on yours.

I got less then 200 mile s on mine before it blew out :x
the real thing you have to consider is Safety
if mine would not have blown when it did I would not be talking to you as I was getting ready to run my favorite short cut home which is only short at sppeds above 130 if it would have bursted at that speed I would be road burger!!!!
Take it back to the bafoons who did it and if its a Triumph Dealer let them know that if they don't make it 100% right and it blows you will own there childrens future. I also would report this to Triumph in Ga. Let them know how much of a lottery ticket you will have if you live and if you don't your family will have the Mega ball.

I am telling you from experience you do not want a blow out as you will not be able to steer once the rim is flat I could hardly get it off the road when mine happened.
I have had blow outs on both the Metzler and the Avon and I can tell you the meztler has stiffer side walls and you'll have a little more control the Avon which I love is a death trap at high speeds when it pops.

I know I am a awnry SOB Dean but don't Take a chance with that tire something is pucked up and I don't want to read about your Death on this site.

Of course if this is a Car Tire I can not speak about it as I only used one to get the beast Home and long enough to decide it was not for me and when the new Cobra arrived off she came. Nothing against CT just aint for me. Either way I would hate to see the tire shread on you!!!

GL, I seem to remember that you had them turn the valve around when they mounted the Riken. If not done properly, it tears the o-ring leading to the slow leaks. Is this why they tried to seal it with silicone?

The bamboo or stiff nylon would be a safer solution. Don't bother soaking the Schrader. Just get a new core at Autozone.
