REAR BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH

It appears there's nothing wrong after all. Tested it on my friend Jim's r3 and back brake did the same thing! Front brake is like an on/off switch. Slowly depress back brake and brake light fades in. Who'd a thunk it!

rear brake switch is a pressure switch, might explain why yours and your friend's operate in this analogue manner, not sure how the switch is varying the voltage though. mine is either on or off though, no variable level of brightness depending on switch pressure/brake lever position.

Jim has a standard 2005 r3, mine is a 2006 Classic - what's yours? I wonder if Triumph changed something in later models. It acts like it's going thru some sort of circuit

The wiring diagram only shows an open/close circuit. BUT the switch could be a coil switch similar to the tank level indicator on my old Trophy 1200 tho, hmmnn. The contact picks up additional coils as you draw down increasing output voltage, interesting.

Rich and Atom: maybe a ride up to Rockford for lunch and a beer this weekend?

I'm good for Saturday's but Sunday night I have to go to work so I'm sleeping during the day. I'm working a 10PM to 6AM shift on the Byron Simulator. Maybe next Saturday? There's a German Restaurant (Rathskellar) in Rockford with German Beer and homemade sausage. Just sayin....
