I left my place on M42, went onto m115 to my home town and on to Frankfort hitting M22 up to the Sleeping Bear National Sand Dunes and on up to Suttons Bay and Traverse City and back home. A leisurely 185 mile ride today. It was brisk following M22 along Lake Michigan.

Will head further north up to Petosky and along the coast tomorrow. I am itching for another trip.

M-22 rocks !

The people that have another location in mind, post it. I think I can add it to the list.
If not I know webmaster can. If needed I can ask him to clear the poll and we vote all over again.

What month do you recommend and what part of Co.?

Honestly, I'd put everyone in Ouray, CO. There's camping, small town feel, and the most amazing scenery in the state. The Million Dollar Highway is right there and it just doesn't get much better. We can route down to Telluride, Lake City, Silverton, and elsewhere, we can nekkid hottub in the Orvis Hot Springs, we can even ride an old style train down to Durango if ya like (heck, send the wives down on the train 'n meet 'em in Durango and loop on back up. Haul ass down there on the twisties on stuff that'd scare 'em silly and go easy back).
It's fairly high altitude with several mountain crossings so I'd go june to early Sept, with my fave time of year (Mountain Flowers) being late July to first week in August. It's about six hours from where I live.
All this being said...there's a LOT of really stunning places to stay in CO for an event like this; I've been to Valkyrie rallies here before as well as many other types (I'm also into fourwheelin'). How many folks generally attend? What's the level of organization? (I'm new to the Rocket world)

Estes Park Colorado and stay at the Stanley Hotel. Now we're talkin'.
That's in my backyard, almost. I was up in Estes a coupla days ago breakin' in my new Rocket. Decent place; really pretty, but there are prettier in CO. It is fun going through Rocky Mountain National Park, but the real fun (and these rockets would be good for it) is taking the 'old' Fall River Road cutoff, which is dirt for a good part, and on which you sometimes have to dodge wildlife.

You have my attention.
Elaborate a little more. What amount of time would we need for this type of ride?

...............................................................

At maximum, there really is no limit, IF you have the time & desire........you only live once, get it while you can.

Practically speaking, at the minimum, a couple weeks....

For example:

Early season series...

*thurs-sunday rally @ Smokies site

*mon-wed group ride thru Appalacians

*thurs-sunday rally @ WV site

Late season series....

*thurs-sun rally @ Utah or CO site

*mon-wed group ride thru AZ/Big Bend

*thurs-sun rally @ TX hill country site

(peeps could do ALL or just PART of any or all events as best fits their own schedules/locations)

(could also add a mid season series if desired......but maybe start with two for the 1st year and see how it goes??)

(another option would be to make it a three weekend linked series, one early/one late.....but that also might be too much for starters??)

(The "group ride" between events is a sort of "traveling salvo" format.......stay in new place each night along the way.)
