Hey Sidecar Flip when you said "All for a little saved in the initial manufacture " you seems to say that Up side down forks are crappier than normal ones . I think you are a little too hard with them ! UPSD forks have a great advantage to be more stiff where it belong to be : in the 2 T of fork holders ! And that only because the area at this place beiing greater , the stiffness will be greater too (in fact it is inertia momentum but we can let drop maths ! )
Now yes , there are backside bad effects . but does not every body want to improve defects who are too obvious for him ? The gain in stiffness , at my eyes BTW , is worth for supporting some defects I can correct !
