Some people are more susceptible than others...If you live a sea level (or close to it), you may be more susceptible than those that live @ higher elevations but anyone can have problems.
Dehydration is a major concern and can go hand in hand with altitude sickness. So definitely drink LOTS of water.
Avoiding stressful exercise, will also lower your likelihood of any problem as will sleeping at lower elevations.
But being aware of the possibilities & preventions in advance is good so
