Predator gas mileage with the StripedApe tune

Well....I took my Rocket to work today, 104 mile round trip.

With the new K&N's on the throttle bodies, and children crying, women fainting, men running and dogs fleeing from the completely outrageous rumbling Predator I computed that I am now getting a record low of 22.5 miles per gallon :shock:

I think my numerous, and completely insane handfuls of abrupt throttle; from a leisurely 80mph; to and beyond 100 miles per hour; at times has contributed to this poor gas mileage :mrgreen:

Bet I ain't lean. :wink:

But it was so fun :grin:

weird I'm getting close to 37 from mine, did about 500 mile trip on saturday

..30 to 35 here, and a lot of the roads I ride, I don't even get into 5th gear..

I will "try" to take a more "leisurely" speed to work tomorrow, without repetitively engaging the Rocket's afterburner. It's hard not to though....

...then I'll again compute the mileage.

I am not sure what tune you are running, but the original pred tune I received also made my bike drink fuel like crazy. A retuned 3kns setup with preds gave around the 35-37mpg mark. I would suggest getting another tune from someone on here and trying that.

Currently, I am running the StripedApe tune. This morning, I will take the Rocket again and try to keep her at a steady highway speed and when I return tonight; calculate the mileage and see if driving sanely will have an effect.

Would everyone be amiable (especially owners of the board/Moderators) in creating a "Tune Library" on this site; as the other site has presently created; as a sticky?

What tune are you using? I have triple K&Ns, secondaries removed and preds, getting roughly 25 mpg. I am currently using one of the maps provided by Sam. My bike is in the process of getting a custom map. Will be interesting to see how gas consumption is impacted.

Indeed, As Ian has stated....

Today, I went to work via Rocket. Kept it at 72mph @3000 rpm for the most part; coming and going. 92.5 on the odometer and stuck 3.6 gallons of gas in it; up to the brim, filling a previously full to the brim tank.

So, I calculate 25.69 miles per gallon. She sure eats gas now. But I love her. Though will need to be re-tuned. My fear of being lean at the moment is not realized.
