Popping and sputtering

The last ride I took was going well, when my 12 RTR started sputtering, cutting out and sometimes backfiring between 2000-3500 rpms. If I roll through the rpm range it does fine, but if I hold one speed it starts cutting out. I continued my ride, and filled up twice afterwards but it's still acting the same. Hooked up Tune ECU and it showed no codes. Any ideas?

Mine did the same thing last year. I thought it was bad fuel. Put it in the shop and they had to replace a bad crankshaft sensor. That's all the the info they gave me.

They've had to do that once already. Wouldn't it show on Tune ECU?

I have no idea. I never checked it just took it to the shop but I will definitely check that first next time.

I've seen all kinds of tips using the search feature here for crankshaft sensor but I can't even tell you where it is because I haven't had trouble with it since they fixed it. I guess you've already tried reinstalling the tune. Hope you get it figured out.

Is that a major job to replace ?

try removing the crankshaft sensor and cleaning it?
