G'day all. I've been scouring the net for pictures of a touring that has the bags removed and had bugger all luck. If anyone could help me out by either pointing me towards a link or posting some pictures of theirs without bags on it would be much appreciated.

Cheer's.

Don't have a picture, but its not a pretty sight. The bags mount to a large frame that includes a rather unsightly bracket that sits on top of each muffler. I doubt many would want to ride around without the bags mounted.

No worries guys, thanks for the replies. I've got a dodgy back and getting the leg over bags can be a pain in the arse. If I remove the brackets/frames (can they be removed?) does the exhaust still have somewhere to mount to? 90% of the time will be day tripping, hard bags will only be needed for long haul's or maybe not at all as I've got me old leather throw over's.

Apologies for the stupid new comer questions and appreciate your patience.

I don't mind the thin arse look and Rosie with no cheek's is still a whole lotta Rosie:D

If you remove the frames you will lose the rear exhaust mounting point. That would leave nothing but a clamp to the crossover pipe holding them on. You'd need to leave the brackets attached in order to support the pipes.

Thank's mate! I may need to rethink my strategy:D or go a custom exhaust sooner than planned. Again many thank's for the answers.

Not trying to say I have the same issue as I have an 05 standard and the issue is from time to time I have developed a hip pointer and the only way I can comfortably get the leg over the bike without discomfort is to use a bit of a 1/4 spin and maintain that momentum to get my leg over. Sort of like your foot is the ball in a game of tetherball. That fluid motion is painless for me but a slow leg over would be excruciating at the hip. May help you or may not, sure works in my case.:p

What about a Standard ??? They are a beautiful machine with or without luggage , a mates got the jig to lower them a full 3 inches without loosing any ground clearance. Just a thought Brother -in law :p
