Petition to get Triumph to make standard rim size. 18 inch?

good point mate

Thankfully Suzuki opted for a 16" wheel on the M109C so we have the Bridgestone as an option. Spare a thought for the riders of that bike who only have the option of going to lower profile Metz or Avon. Getting Triumph to change the size of the rear wheel isn't going to help us. What we need is more bikes of other makes to opt for 240 (or 250 - that would be nice) x 16, whether 50 or 55 profile, and maybe give us existing owners more choice. I'd be amazed if any tyre manufacturer came out now with tyre just for the Rocket III. Lobbying the Jappas to put an 8" x 16" wheel on the back of something is perhaps more likely to be helpful to us at this stage.

If we tell Triumph anything it should be that we'll think twice before buying another Triumph if it has unique sized wheels.

True but it would also be nice to have aftermarket mag options also

Totally agree, but most of us just want better/more choice of tyre. I don't want to have to spend $1000 to get that and I also don't want to run a really low profile tyre (on, say, an 18" rim).

We have metz, avon, bridgestone plus numerous car tyres that will fit the rear plus hundreds that will fit the front, the rocket is a small bike in the tyre world I can understand why certain companies will not spend any R&D on the rocket because they want a return on the investment We have plenty to choose from I have tried all three bike tyres plus a car tyre on my bike and the Bridgestone wins hands down.

Yep im happy to keep using the bridgy its a great tire

I haven't tried a car tyre, although it was something I'd been considering given the lack of satisfaction with Metz and Avon. But since I've been running Bridgestone, which is pretty much everything I want from a tyre, I'm unlikely to ever put a car tyre on. It would still be nice to have other options; a Michelin Commander for example, but if that never happens then at least theres one truly good MT out there. Thank you Suzuki!

Take note if you have tire trouble on a long trip you will spend way way way more money than a different rim in a standard size will ever cost.
Lets run the numbers:
Towing charge off road to a shop =$150
( time to decide) tow bill 1000 mile home or motel rate as you are stuck waiting for someone to ship a tire to shop because no one in a 3 state are has your odd ball tire. Either way you are looking at on the cheap side $1,100, and high side $3,000
or
Purchase a standard wheel package front, and rear rims.

Or buy a cheap $100 car tyre so you can finish your 5000 mile trip and get you home.
