OK I'm a douchbag!

...And I am absolutly "Electric" with excitment. Today, the man from the motorcycle store dropped off my 2010 R3 Roadster (still a few feet of snow-I live in Alaska) and there it sits in my garage...just waiting. Would you believe I leave for a 10 day dive trip to Cozumel tomorrow and now I dont want to go! I just want to drink beer in my garage all wknd and stare at it.

Its been 20 years, so I am taking an "ABATE" rider safety class. I also need to purchase helmut and leathers. I notice that the documentation that came with the bike is lame...I assume there is some expensive after-market manual I can purchase? I am looking for something that really "explodes" the bike in detail. It has 2 aftermarkets, that funky little smoke colored windscreen and Jardine "headers/pipes?"

Thanks again to all the welcomes from all over and I hope to meet other Rocket Riders in person someday-Doug from Alaska

Congratulations on your new ride. You can download a free service manual. I was impressed with the detail and layout of the manual, above average in my opinion. There is an old thread that has a lot of links concerning everything from paint codes to manuals. You could also go to www.tuneEcu.com. I believe they have manuals as well for download. I have a PDF version on my IPad, very handy

Even though I have been riding for a while, I recently took a safety course and thought it was good. Most of the people in the class had next to no experience a couple never had ridden a motorcycle before. I enjoyed it, didn't think I would. It will all come back to you. After a few days it will be like you never took a break from riding.

Riding gear has changed a lot, gotten better, with Kevlar reinforcement and heavy duty denim. I guess leather is a good choice considering you live close to Article circle.

Alaska is a place I have always wanted to visit .… maybe one day.

But why let snow ruin your ride time? Buy snow tracks. I would love to see a Rocket on tracks.

It's only news to you cuz you were used to your Harley

That's true, all them years I was riding hardleys
I just thought they could actually run like a real motorcycle.
ONE test ride on the Triclops changed my mind.;)
and I sure won't own another one.
antique last millennium technology...

But seriously, our rockets will get over 55?
How cool is that?
Now if I could only muster the courage to hang on going that fast..

Thanks everyone, I feel better now that I confessed! Chitty weather down here in SW Florida the past two days. I WANT TO RIDE, but I don't want to get my new baby dirty. Guess I'll drag out the Kaw or the Hardly.:D

you got a long way to go before you catch up with my screw ups bud!!!!

Just wait till the first time you go airborne above 130 mph and not land so well inducing the death wobble, then you are authorized to freak out:D

Oh once you learn to land her its kind of fun but be aware the fog light brackets are not strong enough after a few time they will break. The Falcon no longer has fog lights I am tired of ordering new brackets. I need to make some stronger ones for her. I also think this is do to running at high speeds to often as they get a harmonic vibration which starts the fracture, The weird thing is they break in the flat area not where they are bent so there must be some stress happening above 170mph weakening them.

The Rocket's power saved me from a deer last summer, my brain did the split second calculus necessary to figure out it was going to get in front of me, no way to stop in time, so I rolled on the throttle, I could have slapped him in the nose as I went by, I waited to feel him hit the rear bags, but miraculously, I made it by him.
