Oils Ain't Oils

Cheers pete.triumph, thanks for the advice.

Id be put another dose of semi syn in for the next change was reliably told it better breaks in the motor to not go to full syn till the bike has at least done three oil changes
Thanks HansO, appreciate the advice. sounds like a good idea.

I've heard a lot about break in oil, etc but never really left it in a motor over about 1,000 miles. After that it's full synthetic. Take your pick on brand, but read the back and make sure you are getting full synthetic not a blend

Cheers CanberraR3,

I think the Belray seems the way to go I've read a bit about this and been told by a few people of it. i will do this at the 16,000km service. but might use HansO's suggestion and go for a semi-synthetic same as what's in it now until then.

if its not broke in in 8660 km"s its never going to be broke in.
i would do full syn then change it again in 5000 miles.

Thanks HansO, appreciate the advice. sounds like a good idea.

Interesting info as my dealer instructed me to dump the break in oil at 500 miles and go full syn from then on.
Wonder who is correct?

Reactions: ski
I'd also heard of changing from semi to fully at the 500 mile service.

Castrol 4T Full Synthetic 10W/50 is the oil Triumph uses. I do too.

PS: No need to flush. Just change oil and filter.

Triumph recommends using semi-syn for new to 600 miles for the initial break-in. Then go full syn.
