Hello all,

Last Saturday my wife & I were going to leave for a short ride. Both bikes were running. She took off and my bike died because the kickstand was still down. I flipped the kill switch off & on, then this started happening. Tach-only needle sweep and nothing else. Battery voltage was a little low, so I've trickled it back up to 13.3 and it's still doing the exact same thing. We're supposed to go up to the CMA Arizona State Rally in two weeks, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've installed the Eastern Beaver headlight relay, bypassed the clutch lever sensor for starting, bypassed the ignition and am using the keyless relay, have 00 weld wire for my ground, am running the Toyota starter, and installed LED rear turn signals.

I was going to post a video, but I guess Tapatalk doesn't allow that? If anyone wants to see a video, I'll upload it to YouTube & share the link here.

It's a sad moment. I had same thing happen and the Speedo on the 2005 is probably same as yours.

The speedo is all electronic and there is no mechanical connection.. In olden days the speedo cable would be changed and back in business.

You can check with dealer if he has other solution but the replacement is about $400 for a new one. Dealer could not guarantee the replacement would fix.

Plug and play.

I negotiated four years ago that if it fixed the problem I would pay for his cost of speedo and no labor. Agreed. I can't belive his cost was 350 but my speedo works right now.

Opyions is to go all digital with non Triumph part, but I didn't like the change in the look of mine.

Call a dealer near by and check to see options.

Maybe price negotiation.

Is the tach sweep all you get? No idiot lights, headlight, tail light? Does the horn work?

For whatever reason, when I bought my Rockets I was told to only use the kill switch in emergencies as constant use could cause the computer to eventually lose its way. No idea if that is true.

Thank you both. I didn't think to check the horn, but no idiot lights. The headlight comes on, but probably because I have the EB relay setup. I've moved the harness around several times because of the ignition issues, etc., so maybe something just came loose. I'll start by checking those connections, but also look into a replacement speedometer.

I must be some special kind of dyslexic. My speedometer sweeps and the headlights are on. The idiot lights on the tach flash for a moment, no needle sweep on the tach, and still no fuel pump spin-up.

Probably not easy, but is there a nother Rocket anywhere near Casa Grande?
If yes, buy him/her a beer and trade your speedo for known good and see if it fixes the puzzle.
If cooperative dealer? Maybe a possible test?
Also, I might have missed it, but, Does the Rocket run ok and drsive ok, or no start?

No start at all, not even a relay click. On the plus side, I just won an auction on eBay for a speedo and tach combo in perfect condition off a 2005 Classic for $153. I should have them within 2-3 days.

good chance it's fixed.
My speedo died, but I was able to run the rocket. Best wishes. Expect the speedo fried anyway

LOL. New gauge set, same problem. Started hunting. One of the 30-amp battery fuses had blown. [emoji849] Anybody need an almost-perfect 2005 speedo & tach set? $200 & free shipping for my R3 kin.
