Believe you me, I've been picking as many brains of the the ex-pats we've run into and an acquaintance of Debbie's who built the condo units we've been staying in. They all say the same thing first, get a good attorney. Seems Mexico isn't anything like the US when it comes to foreigners just moving in and starting a business. Where in the states anyone with a green card can own anything and the government even gives them grants or low interest loans to start a business ... here in Mexico, foreigners are not permitted to own any property at all withing 40 miles of the ocean, and the government actually discourages and makes it **** near impossible for non citizens to start a business. It can be done, but it requires a Mexican attorney to hold title to everything since you can't. They said it would most likely require start up and living capital of around $100K and about a year if you're lucky. I'm only short about $80K and have a wife that probably wouldn't be able to live like a local in a ****ty apartment for more than an hour.

I guess I need to start living like a scrooge and start saving more as fast as possible. And that means no more lavish Mexican vacations ... Probably be divorced in 6 months. lol
