Nitro in tyres?

The pros are that your tire will run cooler, last longer and not need to have the pressure checked as often. It also helps prevent corrosion inside the wheel.
The only small con is the cost.

I had the guys at Costco put nitrgen in my Goldwing tires for $5.

So do I, but it's that pesky 21% oxygen that causes tires to run hotter and lose pressure quicker! :wink:

85% of American's dont check their tire pressure accordingly. If you are one of those people then yes you would benifit w/ nitrogen in your tires. If you are not a lazy ass and can maintain your tire pressure to specks then dont waste your money on it................. :wink:

I wonder if my local Costco guys would do that for me? Gotta love those green valve caps.

I used to run Nitrogen in the tires on an Alfa Romeo that I had. The real kicker was that the shop that used the nitrogen also "trued" the tires. They had what amounts to a huge lathe that the wheel and tire is mounted on, spun up to a high speed, (something like 80-100 mph if I remember correctly) and then a rotating cutter, (think of a router or dye grinder) moves acoss the tread. The idea being to cut off the high spots that have occurred. It was a hard sell convincing me to let them cut a layer of rubber off my brand new and EXPENSIVE (to me) tires. Once I finally did it I was astounded at how much smoother the ride was (at speed) and how much better the grip was. Could never say it was just the truing or the choice of tire and care with which they balanced it. I wish I could try having motorcycle tires cut that way. Would need a machine that cuts in an adjustable arc however.

I've been filling mine with pure hydrogen...now my wheels and tires are as light and nimble as those much more expensive carbon fiber ones. Just gotta' watch static sparks...Oh, the humanity. Poof! 8)
