We left the coast about 9:AM today, and headed inland about a half hour to wait for several riders coming from various locations to meet up (@15 bikes in all).

The R3R was the only Triumph, with most being older Valkyries, and two Hardleys that brought up the rear.

The group rode inland to River Ratz on the Withlacoochee River for lunch (We live on the Weeki Wachee close to the coast).

We experienced some love bugs on the way home, but they could have been much worse, and we beat the afternoon rains home by about an hour. I have a feeling some of those with longer rides to the east may not have been so fortunate.

All in all, a great day in Florida, with the temps in the lower '70's in the morning, and mid '80's when the clouds burned off just before we got home!

Always Good to hear of others having a good ride there is nothing like being out there out of reach of the phone etc
One thing troubles me thou is these Love Bugs you speak of, it must be hard dodging VW Beetles :whitstling:;):D:roll: He  made me say that ... Honest

Glad you had a good ride. Rode over to Crystal river a few years ago and stayed there for a few days. Great riding over there. My personal preference is A1A. I love riding along the ocean. Heading south from Jax we usually end up in Flagler Beach for lunch. If we head north we go to Fernandina Beach for some great pizza and ice cream.

Nice bike, lovely wife, sounds like you had a nice day :)

What's a love bug?

A beast from hell that hatches in May and September and gathers along the roads in countless masses.

They are about the size of a mosquito, fly while mating, hence the name "love bugs," and get smashed all over the front of cars and motorcycles, causing a great mess.

They are a bit stubborn to get off, and, if left on the paint for over three days, will eat into the clear coat, leaving permanent blemishes in the paint.

We have a problem with Fruit Bats here ( flying foxes ) , their sheit is acidic and eats into paint work
