Pics of it in MCN (sorry could not cut and paste the article here). 200 claimed HP's. Official release to the continental European press scheduled on June 4 at 20:00. Jamie

I had one of the originals, and it was a good bike for the times - especially with a few modifications. I have been following the few details that have been released over the past few years with growing interest, and I assume we will know more shortly. Does anyone know how many will be released in the US this year? I have heard rumors of only 200 for 2009, but this may be pure speculation.

If you have been following the engine data some of it looks interesting - especially the VVT system that is much like that on the Yamaha designed Toyota 2ZZ-GE engines - but on both intake and exhaust cams. It also has Drive-By-Wire (DBW) throttle control. I am interested to see if it has the same lag issues and over-controlling nature of other DBW systems I have experienced.

Personally I was hoping it would have a bit more modern styling than my old 1987 model, but time should prove it to be a good bike with a loyal following.

Seeing Things From A Different Angle

No I haven't . I have been pleading for it, though, on dedicated forums. If you have info, please do let me know. Thanks

My own Streety already has the Daytona rear shock on it, a modicum of CF and next Monday she'll get the Daytona peg assies and foot levers. Good for over two inches of extra cornering clearance (silly me !). Pirelli Corsa rubber will probably follow.

It looks like whatever Triumph went thru in terms of costs savings to make the Streety price- competitive with the Honda 600 Hornet needs to be revisited

motorcycle news is the Enquirer of bike rags.

The new Vmax has been due out since 2000. When the old model hit 15 years. Then is was DEFINITELY supposed to be out in 2005.

Yamaha actually sent me (and 1000s of others I'd presume) for feedback on the new Vmax as I was a previous owner and had put about 30,000 mile in the seat of my 1989. This was in 05.

New Vmax? Maybe...but not next year, or even the year after.

200 rear wheel HP? I remember the ads for the 1985 Vmax. 145hp? Bzzzzzt. FLywheel maybe. mine made 122 with a full exhaust and stage 1 jetting.

2009 Star Motorcycles VMax - First Look - MotorcycleUSA.com

"The VMax has already achieved iconic status. The 2009 VMax will only consolidate its legend. If you like what you see, you'd better act fast, because the bike is a limited edition. Star Motorcycles is only making 2500 of the 2009 version, so whoever can dole out the $1,000 customer deposit first gets dibs. The order period is June 4 through October 31, but I don't see them still being available come October. Even with a $17,990 MRSP, the VMax has a devout enough following who will gladly pay the price to be the proud owner of this limited edition motorcycle."

Wanted one since `83. Now or never! I'm #3 at my dealership. This could get interesting.
