2007 Honda VTX 1800R & VTX 1300C; 2005 Rocket III Roadster
I just purchased a 2005 R3 Standard, 17k miles for a great price. ($2800) runs fine, minor cosmetics to fix, nothing serious.

I live in Palmyra, Indiana, about 1/2 hour from downtown Louisville

I like the look of the tourer.

Looking for input as to modifying this standard into a tourer including the following
a) tourer exhaust
b) tourer rear fender
c) tourer bags (not necessarily Triumph OEM)
d) good two-up seat

any links, comments would be appreciated.

G'day and welcome.

The R3T parts that you are asking about won't fit anything but the R3T. However, there are a bunch of options out there if you want to make your bike into a touring bike. Corbin makes bags, as does Tsuyaki (sp?). There are also lots of leather bag options. There are also a few (but not too many) exhaust options if you want to move away from the striking and iconic three pipe system.
 
Thanks...that's the kind of info I need, what will and won't work.
I've got Tsukayu bags and fairing on my VTXs... will see what they have available for the R3. Perhaps Uncle Sam will be kind and give me a great tax refund next spring and I'll spring for a R3T
 
Firstly Welcome from Auss
as Ian mentioned the Touring has different dimensions as in the rear end is narrower the seat size and shape als is different and why anybody would switch from the Three Muffler look unless they are after more power and go with a 3 into 1 system such as the CES, Reband or Carpenter system's is beyond me but each their own you can also get StainTune mufflers in the three muffler look or buy the Triumph standard Roadster TORS genuine mufflers or StainTune Roadster (both wder to suit the wider back wheel) version but would have to make modifications to the mounts after it leaves the engine pipe
As far as the seat goes a good number of us have gone to the Corbin option (I have the heated DualTour and Love it) some have gone for the Russell Daylong and the lighter guys seem quite happy to use the Triumph Classic version but they are hard to get now
