I had a 2004 Bonneville. After I put the TOR's on it, it sounded very much like I remember my 1970 TR6R sounding. The 2004 Bonnie was a dynamite bike. However, after I test drove the Rocket, I sold the Bonnie and got the Rocket. Four years later, I'm getting a bit tired of the Rocket's weight and am thinking about trading down to a Bonnie. This assumes that I actually believe that I'm over the power trip the Rocket affords. I'm very fickle. I'll probably keep the Rocket.

Hell... just get both! The Bonnies aren't terribly expensive, after all. Picked mine (his... right. Got it.) up for $7500, with 2 miles on the ticker. End of the season is a great time to do it.

I hate to admit it... but that Bonnie gets more looks and compliments than my Rock. I think she's getting a bit jealous. And it sounds great. I love that Trumpet p-twin sound!



Uhh... XChop? Flip? S'pose we could get back to me bragging on the new bike and doing comparos to the Rock?

Makes me feel almost normal again, and I thought those days were well behind me.

OK, lets get the story straight. Flip was into us for about 3000 to 4000 posts before he started selling any products. So everyone here has known Flip for a couple of years now; so you are not providing any insight. Since he was continually running on about building this and machining that, several of us called him out to make some products similar to that others offer for substantially inflated prices. Once he got rolling and set up his site he became a paid advertiser. So Flip's ranting and bull****ting was here long before he paid us to let him post it.

Anyway, I have almost all Flips products on my bike, (the quality is excellent, the price can't be beat) the cable clamps, (both sets), whether you like them, or whether they look bulboulicious (whatever) is a matter of taste, I suppose, I like em and thats all that matters to me. The bag liners, and my bags are now finished with that miracle creme he brought to E.S. good stuff by the way, thanks for the front Flip. Still don't have the K&N filters yet, next paycheck I'm orderin them Flip, so package me up a set will ya?
Ok, so back to Alisters Bonnie (ain't that what got this whole thing started?).
Nice bike Alister, I don't care where it was made, I'm thinkin bout gettin 1 for my son, but he's startin to like the looks of that Thunderbird, and can't say I blame him.

Man, I'm all for it I don't come here for the debates! I come here to talk about motorcycles!
I agree about owning both bikes.
I enjoy both of them.
If you can, owning both is the way to go!
They are very different motorcycles and serve different purposes.
My Bonneville is a gas to ride down very twisty roads or for short runs around town but my Rocket serves much better for 2-up and longer rides. It's much more comfortable for anything longer than about a 30 mile ride. The Bonneville get my vote in the looks department though, ... not saying I don't care for the way my R3 looks, I do I just really love the nostalgic looks of the Bonneville (it sounds great too with the Norman Hyde Toga slip ons!). I think Bonnevilles are one of the most beautiful motorcycles of all time, right up there with the Nortons of the 60's and 70's. I keep my Bonneville parked in our media room. My wife loves it too!

Definitely! That was one of the first characteristics I noticed with the Bonnie; its handling. Light (compared to my Rock, anyway...), easy to flick around, and I'm not worried about scrubbing the footboards! I took it up Hwy 20 a couple of days ago and played in the mountain roads. Complete blast, that little thing!

The Rock is great for long trips and will handle its own in the twisties... but it's just not the same. You do get a sense of how big and heavy it is during tight maneuvers and quick left-right changes.

We are enjoying an unusually warm November day today (75 F ) and I am going for a ride on my Bonnie! My wife and I are going on a much longer ride tomorrow on our Rocket. Ahh variety!

In the realm of things, my only 'Titan' is sitting in the shop...presently broken. As far as penis size, You'll have to talk to Amy about that. She appears to be relatively happy after 26 years of marital bliss, but then appearances can be deceiving.....

As far as my website is concerned, I got into offering my machined in house items for the benefit of the R3 owners worldwide as well as myself. I added other manufacturers products (and will continue to do so) for your convenience. In no way or at any time did I ever envision the website to become a profit motivated vehicle. It's simply a vehicle where I can offer my products as well as other manufacturers products at a reasonable price to you, my fellow Captains. Some of you will remember that I started the site during the second RAA in Nashville, Tennesee on the urging of Pianoman and the mysteriously absent Raymond Braswell who actually named the business Flipmeister. I really miss Ray. I've tried more than once to contact him with no luck. I know that Britman will be happy to post a picture of just how 'close' Ray and I were.....

I'd be lying to myself if I ever thought that the website would provide any income. I have a better chance of getting wealthy playing the lottery. So long as the website continues to pay for itself and it's incurred expenses, I'll keep it running.

At my age, I enjoy the shop time. I can go out in the shop. close the door and eliminate the outside world and it's trials and tribulations while producing quality items that I can offer to all of you and at least on my manufactured in house items, offer them at substantially lower prices than if I had to procure them elsewhere and in turn, resell them.

Now that cold weather is upon us up here in the North Country, the machine shop business is increasing. Here in Michigan, my reputation as a quality engine re-bore, rebuild shop brings me a growing number of high performance snowmobilers who 'ran their engines just a bit too lean' in the never ending search for more power.

All in all, the early days of winter are a busy time here. The wintertime power sports flourishes while the motorcycles sleep.

One thing I'd like to know though - If "flip" was allowed to advertise his stuff for "3000 - 4000 posts" before he started paying for the priveledge, why am I not allowed to say I am a dealer for so many of the products discussed here?
In time as we manufacture more items related to Triumphs it will become cost effective to pay for advertising here but for now it is not as most of the products we offer are for Honda VTX.
