For Sale New 2005 TRIUMPH ROCKET III - $22000 Craigslist Wisconsin

Inflation & dollar devaluation adjusted $600 in 1948 $$$

I would say the Black Shadow is comparably WAY more valuable than a 2004/5 Rocket.
In the day, the Black Shadow was considered an expensive motor. It cost twice as much as a Triumph.
In 1955 twas $1200.00 - in today's money, $11,300.00. Almost comparable to a Rocket.
Vincent Black Shadow — The First Superbike, and Maybe the Best

This is interesting . . .
An "excellent" 1955 Black Shadow is valued at $110,000 which is a $108,800 gain over 69 years or $1,576.80 per year.
Using an average yearly appreciation, at 14 years old the Vincent was valued at $22,075!?!?!?
Same comparative price value at 14 years!
A 2005 R3 cost $15,000 and this guy wants $22,000 or a $7,000 gain in value over 14 years or $500 per year.
Hardly an accurate methodology, yet interesting. Anyway you cut it, a 2005 R3 is NO Vincent Black Shadow! :D

Having a crystal ball would help. A 14 year old Vincent twin was going for about £20-30 in the London area. It wasn't until the 1980's that prices went through the roof.

You guys are missing the point.
It's like this.

I've got it ....
I want $22K for it ......
If you want it it, pay me the $.

Simple.

And believe me there are people out there who will simply look at that bike and say "Yea", I'll have that"
The $22K is floor sweepings.

P.T. Barnum was indeed correct!

Will you guys please stop using Black Shadow in the same sentence as the Rocket, the Rocket has no right to be mentioned along with one of the greatest bikes of all time.

Buddy Stubbs a Harley dealer here in Arizona is said to have the largest Vincent collection in the USA. CLICK

If you're ever in the area it's worth a tour.

OP is not selling this bike, he regularly posts Craig's Listed R3s for interest and comment.

Mmmmnnn, let me put down a few thoughts about Collectibles.

Diamonds and other 'collectibles' utility or function is completely disconnected to their 'value' even if improvements over time are ignored. Diamonds have been a fairly useless high value item despite vast differences in their quality over time. Early jewel diamonds are often low grade, very flawed and very poorly cut yet are still worth much more than perfect synthetic modern diamonds that can be flawless in every way except buyer's vanity and 'value'.

A perfect art piece in a renowned world collection and valued at much more than most diamonds is 90 cans of human excrement. That have been selling for £100,000 to £275,000 each!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artist's_****

A tin was sold for 124,000 at Sotheby's on May 23, 2007;[5] in October 2008 tin 83 was offered for sale at Sotheby's with an estimate of £50,000–70,000. It sold for £97,250. On October 16, 2015, tin 54 was sold at Christies for £182,500. In August 2016, at an art auction in Milan, one of the tins sold for a new record of €275,000, including auction fees.[6] The tins were originally to be valued according to their equivalent weight in gold – $37 each in 1961 – with the price fluctuating according to the market.[1]

All of these purchases were made by people. Just sayin' ;):D:roll::roll::roll::roll:
