Riding Motor Since 1950
Inflation & dollar devaluation adjusted $600 in 1948 $$$
I would say the Black Shadow is comparably WAY more valuable than a 2004/5 Rocket.
In the day, the Black Shadow was considered an expensive motor. It cost twice as much as a Triumph.
In 1955 twas $1200.00 - in today's money, $11,300.00. Almost comparable to a Rocket.
Vincent Black Shadow — The First Superbike, and Maybe the Best
This is interesting . . .
An "excellent" 1955 Black Shadow is valued at $110,000 which is a $108,800 gain over 69 years or $1,576.80 per year.
Using an average yearly appreciation, at 14 years old the Vincent was valued at $22,075!?!?!?
Same comparative price value at 14 years!
A 2005 R3 cost $15,000 and this guy wants $22,000 or a $7,000 gain in value over 14 years or $500 per year.
Hardly an accurate methodology, yet interesting. Anyway you cut it, a 2005 R3 is NO Vincent Black Shadow!
