everywhere
Hello all,
is here anybody who has the Triumph BT connectivity and navigation? Is it worth the money? And, is it possible to update existing non-navi tft to navi? Works it also offline with downloaded maps, if you have data turned off?
Or, do you have any good recommendation for navigation? I don't want to use anything big, anything what I need to attach on handlebars, because I need it several times yearly only. For now I use voice navigation of mapy.cz thru BT to my helmet (really almost perfect), but specially in the cities, where are many roundabouts and unreported one-way or closed streets, it gets sometimes lost. I am not sure, if exist any optimal solution. I know, Triumph system is only graphically the same as I hear. Exist something really minimalist, but graphical? I like Indian tft navi solution, but bad luck, we cannot have everything ;)

Martin,

Not sure you're going to find that the Triumph offering is what you need. I find that a navigation setup is VERY specific to each and every person differently. That is to say, I may be comfortable with a Garmin ZUMO, others might prefer just a phone with Google Maps or Rever or Calimoto running, some want it mounted, others can get by just by listening to the directions in their ear. It becomes hard to define unless you know the types of riding is involved (long distances, short runs, random, planned, etc.) to give a good answer.

If you want a variety of answers, perhaps ask people for what they are using, how they are setup, how they ride, and what they would change (if anything).

I have a setup but it works for me, it may not work for you.

Good luck.

In last decade started in EU the Roundabout-madness. They are almost everywhere. New technologies makes the drivers more and more stupid and incompetence. I must say, I really hate them Roundabouts and these new facebook-drivers, which instead of watching the road must every ten meters write new status to fb. But to navigation: in good old times you did not needed any navigation, map was enough. Then, in more or less normal times, you could see (or hear) "continue 24 kilometers straight", or "continue 7 kilometers on the main road" (my record was "continue 800 kilometers straight", hahaha). One month ago I was in France, there are literally thousands, maybe hundredthousands of roundabouts. Also on straight way. I only heard "in 400 meters, at the roundabout take the 2nd exit", sometimes were 2 or 3 of them directly each after each or 20 in 6 kilometers! Sometimes the navi girl said "at the roundabout take the 3rd exit" and I was on wrong way and must turn back, because I should continue straight, but to the roundabout was connected micro digression to gas station or bakery, or, in the cities, there could be simple pavement to bigger house. For these reasons I would like to have normal navigation, but on other way, I don't like the mounting kits and I don't want to have it mounted all the year.
So I collect ideas for offline navi with good maps but easily attached to the bike. I also thought about micro tankbag only for phone, but I cannot find any.
Problem is, that also motorcycle world turned to insanity. It looks, that nobody is able to travel lightweight, everybody must wear big bags full or nothing, everybody must have gr with metal boxes, everybody must have windshield like sail from Cutty Sark (because of the bad bad wind), everybody must wear the ugly working clothes... I am soo sad from this world. There is no room to stay normal.

Hey Martin. To use the Triumph App you have to have the Bluetooth Connectivity module, and like technoguppy said, whether it "works for you" or not will be up to you. There is a metric butt-load of hate for the module and the app, especially from people who paid the money and couldn't get it to work. I, as a lifelong techno nerd of the highest order, of course optioned it up. And I of course managed to get it all working, but with a lot of trial and error. So I have the Triumph App, my Sena 10U Bluetooth and my GoPro all connected and working, although as Triumph only certified the GoPro Hero 7, my 8 and 9 (and later versions I assume) have some features not working. But enough works to suit what I do.

As for the nav itself, it works, but the display being small means it gives you arrows and short descriptions and relies on the helmet audio (in my case) to give verbal instructions. And the text to voice robot voice is not particularly well crafted. The app lets you add waypoints and keeps track of your trips after the fact. There was a bug when Apple updated IOS to 16, but Triumph has a software update out that fixed it.

I did a review of the Triumph dash options, including the connectivity module add-ons, as well as a ride demo on my channel if you are interested:
