we are in Florida with some time to kill and was thinking about renting a bike for a day or two but having never done it before was not sure how it worked or how insurance worked. Thanks for any input

Doug here from Anchorage, Alaska. I did a bit of research as I am hoping next summer to visit my sister in NH next summer, rent a bike and go on a tour with her to Newfoundland. She has been riding Triumphs for years and I have a RIII Roadster here in Alaska, but dont have enough time to ride across the continent so I am looking at renting.

What I found out is that Hardley Ableson operates a string of rental shops all across America-to their credit you can rent a variety of brands from them although I did not see Triumph on their list...Beamers, Gold Wings, Yamaha's, and of course Harleys. Its' not cheap, but I think within reason as I seem to recall the rates included ins. and roadside assistance. Depending on the bike and how long you want it (there was break for a week-long rental) the average was about $100.00 USD a day. -Doug

I just looked at the eagle rider rentals and also found a dealer in Sanford that rents Honda / spyders.. A little under $200 a day. So we may do it , I just did not understand how the whole insurance thing worked, called my agent and he said I had to get it thru the dealer...
It is 20 degrees at home so I would love to get a day on a bike, even if it is not on the rocket....

MB and I rented a Hardly from the HD shop in Miami back in 06. Not too expensive. Got us to Key West and back.
