I had a few spare moments Saturday so I put on my new set of Preds that I got from Sam. I pulled off the Jardines rather quickly. It took two days to put those suckers on (seriously) and all I had to do to get them off of the bike was to take off the 6 manifold bolts, the two rear foot peg bolts and the little chrome cover over the rear brake master cylinder and the whole set of Jardines came off as a complete unit and is now sitting in my basement. I think the Preds weigh half of what the Jardines did, and we won't talk about the stock system....

The Preds went on just as quickly, it probably didn't take me a half an hour to mount them up. That would include putting on the heat shields (I put some high temp anti sieze on the bolts) and the spiffy chrome endcap that I got from Summit racing. Supertrapp wanted something like $115 for that and Summit had it for $85. I already had new exhaust gaskets.

At first I just used the baffle supplied by Supertrapp and the chrome endcap and went out for a short ride. It was loud. It was soooo loud that after a short 3 mile jaunt I had a headache, my ears were ringing, my ears actually hurt and I set off two car alarms. I did totally out noise a Harley so that was fun. It was just too loud to be enjoyable. So as you can see in the pics I put in the supplied tuning disks to quiet it down a tad and they did their job. It is still loud but really, not bad at all.

So I went back out for another short ride and it ran better with the disks. Actually, quite a bit better. I have all twelve disks in there and it didn't seem to affect the top end (using the highly accurate seat of the pants dyno) but I have more punch down low. So much so I can make the front very light just by cracking the throttle, and I actually was able to get the front wheel up a couple of times just messing around. Keep in mind I have Nev's mild cams, the comical K&N RU-1770's and some other mods that I don't want to bore you with.

These pipes are a step up from the Jars. The Jars ain't bad though. I haven't done anything to tune the bike yet, I just haven't had time. I want to get over and have it dyno'd. I did get out for about a half hour ride today and it seems like I may be lean as the bike was running hot, and I'm not talking about heat from the pipes.

Is anyone else running the disks? If so, how many are you using? I may take 4 out and try 8 just to see how it does. And how did you dyno it? I may need another of the cheapo thin endcap and drill a hole in it for the exhaust gas probe to go in, these pipes have no bung for an O2 sensor so I can't go in there.

In fact, if anyone has the set of disks and the thin cheapo end cap that they are not using (4", 6 hole) I would probably take them off of your hands....

just on a side note... the rear mount goes underneath the chrome side cover.. the side cover is notched underneath.. at this point you'll have to remove the pipes and as you re install slip the mount bracket underneath the cover and just slip the bolt in place.. put pressure on the pipes at the head and snug up all the manifold bolts before you tighten the rear mount bolt.. this insures the header insert is flat in the cylnders...
i have more discs if you want them
are yu running the wayne tripp tune in tb? if you are going to dyno i would run that tune as a base and zero the pc111. then use the pc111 to make tweak adjustments

no need to loosen the front 2 bolts on the peg cover.. you might want to have someone lend a hand by pulling the side cover gently away so you dont scratch them.

disc

I've been running 17 disc with a heavy end cover I got from Summit. Thats the max number of disc that will fit with the mounting screws. I also have Nev's street cams and lockup clutch head. I had it dynoed with pcIII and then applied that over the TB tune that Sam had sent me. I also ordered a 270 degree flange that the discs fit in to deflect the sound and exhaust down towards the pavement.

tom, please , please dont tell me you are running that jar tune on these pipes.. they aint jars ... you are very-dangerously- lean if you are doing this .. and the bike isnt running worth a crap.. load that wayne tripp tune... brian has both versions for tune boy. i seriously woundnt even ride the bike w/o doing this. dump the pc111 / not the by pass / and run this tune
