Modifying the stock pipes

Hello Recon, I took some stock pipes apart last year and theres no restriction to speak of along the centre tube so you wouldnt gain anything, you can fit TOR pipes which look the same but have a larger diameter tube and are a lot louder.

Hello Recon, and welcome to the forum.

The TOR silencers can be mixed & matched with the standard ones, and you can play with the sound by fitting just 1 or 2 of the TOR's.

That way you would keep the looks of the original & can make it progressively louder than standard.

I don't know about running a punch down the center of your baffles, but Fishbien drilled holes in his R3T pipes and says they sound much better but I think he also mentioned gettling lower MPG.

I was surprised at how much the sound improved with that one small mod. You could try removing the cone ends just to see how it sounds and then go from there.

I wouldn't hold your hopes up of a " great sound" just by fitting slash cut ends... Standard R3 comes with those & sounds like a sewing machine; compared to a good after market pipe.
D&D pipes sound quite good, not oppressively loud. They're cheap, but only okish looks wise.
I went for Maddogs. They sound amazing, & the looks are superb. The pipes are aligned parallel to the ground & tight against the side of the bike.( Unlike standard pipes that splay all over the place).
The only thing is they arn't in production now :x so 2nd hand only.
Then you got Jardines, always popular, but loud!!, & finally specialist pipes (like Sam's predators).

At the end of the day, you pays yer money & takes yer choice
