Clutch fluid leaking somewhere.
This is my first bike with a hydrolic clutch. Thought it felt odd when I first road it, but was assured that's how they feel. Bought it with 9k miles on it from an individual. A few days later I realized there's an eye glass on the fluid and the fluid was below the eye. Called the dealer, they said something must be wrong it. After 6 or 7 weeks in the shop and 1.7k later, they said nothing was wrong with it. Just needed topped off. Now only 500 miles later it's low again and have no clue where it's leaking.
It could be at the clutch which is behind the radiator. A bit of PIA to get to, but if you don't see seepage anywhere else that must be it. This will help in understanding...
Part 1 This includes valve clearance check and shim replacement. Also air, fuel, spark plug and coolant replacement, and bleeding the clutch. This is a work in progress, so edits and further information to come... Get the service manual here...
The clutch hydraulic fluid is the same ester as the brakes DOT 4. If that is leaking from the clutch slave cylinder it will remove the paint on any surface it lands on. The shop manual does not provide instruction to rebuild the slave cylinder, only replacement.
