It was bad luck but the insurance cover was fantastically good. It did mean that I could tootle along in my hire car & visit places that I would otherwise have missed, one of these was "Gold Beach" of The Normandy landings, I would have liked to carry further on to visit the American cemetery but time was a constraint. I would advise anyone to visit these beaches where all these men died 70 yr's ago. I intend to visit again but this time on a 6 day tour of the WWII sites, I was so moved by what I saw & the people of Arromanche are still so thankful to all the allied forces for the sacrifice they made. We will always remember them. BTW Gold beach has a 360 degree cinema (9screens) where you see actual footage filmed at the time of the invasion.
The insurance was brilliant, bike collected in 20mins. Hire car arranged for next day & taxi to get me there, dropped it off at ferry terminal & on this side another taxi to take me for car No 2 for my journey home. All I need now is the bike to be shipped over then I can get it fixed. After this I wouldn't think of going abroad without full cover including repatriation for me & vehicle, £30 well spent.
Yes! In west Cheshire. The engineering place is very good & I'm sure that if he saw it he would perfectly understand but probably knows it by a different name.
Decided to attack the job myself but for insurance my old mate is supervising, wish me luck! The bike will be delivered to me on 7 August or thereabouts.
