looking for a "manly" horn

hey guys,

i'm embarrassed to "toot" my horn in traffic when a horn needs to be used. can't believe for a such a testosterone fill bike Triumph gave it a kiddie horn!

i need to get this ***** a manly horn!

what horn have you replaced the stock with?

I am yet to fit it, but I have the Steibel Soundbomb, I think is the name, from all reports it is loud!
I find myself actually thinking NOT to use the horn when I should, it is an embarrassing sound.
 
emm, not being overly mechanically inclined, and there's a Corbin fairing on the front, so there's not much extra room, so i'd like to find something a little more plug and play with a close replacment the stock one in place
 
Got the Steibel fitted and can vouch for the loudness and 'shriek' factor when used. Sounds much like a truck air horn and certainly wakes people up. Another option is the Denali sound bomb available in two types - either as a complete single unit or the split version with the horn and power module mounted separately. Google them both for the stats.
 
or you could get an italian ferrari style dual horn with compressor .. I did $35 and 50 cts
placed the compressor where the old horn used to be and ran the two horns under the gas tank in the back
it wakes up sleepy drivers.
what you have to remember is you cannot rig the electrics the way it was with the moped horn. you can find many sketches on this forum on how to connect but do it as it is mentionned or you won't get the juice needed for the compressor and that goes for the stebel as well
 
I snuck a Sebel horn in front of the throttle body - it just fits.
As for plug and play - any upgrade that requires more current draw WILL require a relay to ensure there is enough power delivery and no strain on the existing wiring.

Then you are stuck with the same old thing you have. You can find similar to stock horns that say they are much louder but in reality they might only be a few decibels loader than what you have. And they will have that same wimpy sound. What I did was kept the stock horn in place and added the Stebel compact air horn under my left side cover. Together they sound pretty good.
