Generally not because most side-mounts attach to either the swingarm/axle or the lower shock bolt.

Either position causes a conflict with bags.

There are various options for relocating the license plate. Those that have used their luggage rack and hung the license off of the bottom.

Others have used 'laydown' license plate brackets.

Since I am Stateside, I got this from DennisKirk.com.

Drag Specialties Chrome Lay-Down License Plate Mount - DennisKirk.com=

This is the base and it requires 3 holes to be drilled in the fender.

I chose to use post lights for the license plate lighting (not sure if that is required in the U.K.) and some small LED turn signals. I made some brackets for the turn signals but you can buy nicer ones now.

thanks for that tdragger, yes we can get drag spec. stuff easy enough here and yes we do need no.plate illumination. our plates are supposed to be a bit bigger than yours though. on the spot £60 fine if you get pulled and can be points on your liecence(3 i think) 12 and your out ! for a smaller than legal requirement plate. thanks again.

Extreme Metal Products makes the license plate/turn signal holder that I use. The bracket replaces the factory part moving the whole assembly up so that it's nicely tucked up under the rear fender. The rear turn signal mounts are moved from the outside edge of the frame further in near the center so that the lights are pulled inward for a tighter look. The overall look takes the oversize English stock plate and droopy turn signals and pulls it all up high and tight. It's heavy gauge steel and not some flimsy stamped piece of tin, sells for $39.99
