Lets see em

Be glad to share that with you Willie.
Everybody thinks thats the Triumph car emblem,
and they're right of course.
Originally it was a Triumph tank emblem back in the late 20's and early 30's.
When The car division and the motorcycle division split the sheets,
The car division got the world emblem logo,
the motorcycle division got the "swoosh" with the tail of the "R",
into the crossbar of the "H" for their logo.
I thought since this design was originally a tank emblem,
it deserved its own patch.
I've only ever seen it on one tank, a 1928 I think it was.
Anyway, I got ahold of a patch maker in England who originally made this patch in the early 70's,
for an old man who wanted one to match his tank emblem,
on his original one owner "real old Triumph", as the patch maker told me.
They made him two. But still had the design.
I got numbers 3 and 4 made, one of which is now on my Triumph vest.
The other is in my collection ready to go on the wall.
BUT,
You didn't ask about the history,
you asked about "where".

Here's the original.

But of course I wanted the story. Just the Where would not have been nearly as interesting. That is too cool. I didn't even recognize it as the car emblem, as much as I like old spitfires. Thanks for the link. I ordered my skull and piston patch last night. I bought a new vest about 9 months ago and haven't put anything on it. Hell, I haven't even worn it yet. I have another new one I have had for about 15 years with nothing on it but a big HD eagle and my old one with all my patches and pins. Didn't have any way to sew everything on a new vest until recently and didn't have a big Triumph patch to use. Don't ride the HD's I have very often (dont' spend the time to keep them running) so didn't want to wear an HD patch on my R3T. Now I have a cool patch to put on the vest and I can start collecting again.

Hope I get to see it in person.
Hopefully at the next Rockets Across America.

May happen this time. I was going to the one in May but something came up, I had to teach a class and couldn't make it. I sent an email to the folks with the Triumph world patch but haven't heard back yet.
