I'd like to add some LED strips but wondering where power connection would be? I would like them to switch on with main power applied.

You are going to get WAY better answers from loads of smarter people but before they get here...
A lot of electrical components seem to pick off of the tail-light power line. Depending on your power requirements that might be a candidate. Maybe other light power lines if your power requirements are different.
