Stopped by at my Buds Triumph dealership yesterday to wish them all happy holidays. Saw 2 T-Birds on the floor so i climbed aboard. Nice looking ride but the seat,,,, Oh my God, like sitting on a brick. Guess it to get you to buy the Gel seat they offer. Anyhow, wouldn't want to go long on the stock seat.

Don't knock them so quick. There are 1000's of riders who use a very firm seat for long distance riding. For many too soft is a butt killer-look how popular Corbin is-and they ain't soft! Bottom line (no pun intended)-most riders will modify the seat anyway and no matter who makes it the seat will have it's fans and foes.

I put 100 miles on a 'bird seat for a demo day and felt like I just went around the block. YMMV.

I for one favor harder seats. I've gone through two Triumph seats on my R3T and recently replaced the second with a Corbin. Having had a Corbin on my last BMW I should have known that's what my bony ass preferred. I can do 500+ mile days on a Corbin with ease whereas on the softer Triumph seats I'm done at about 300 miles.

Guess I'll be selling the that Solo seat with backrest soon.

Corbin rules, I have had my fastgun for about three years now and it is still brick hard how anyone can ride a bike with a soft seat is beyond me, when Corbin tells you that the seat will break in they are telling you porky pies:D

My 2005 Fastgun never broke in! I always found it a bit too hard for my lean butt and, more importantly to me, too wide in the sitting area. Aways wished it had a less angular transition between the sitting area and the sides. But it looked so darn good;)

PS The std T'Bird sadddle suits me fine!

The nicest thing about Triumph's stock seat is the fullness and hardness...It gives an area to shave down, add gel and still retain shape..I had both my america trimmed to fit and now my R3T..The upholsterer commented both times positive concerning the seats

Brick hard seat was my initial response too when I first sat on a T-Bird. I bought my new T-Bird on 12/31 and bought it thinking I'd likely be changing seats pretty fast. However, that's not the case at all. I find I don't even notice the seat when riding. In fact, like my Tiger (and unlike my R3T), I rarely twitch a muscle when riding it. That's how it should be as far as I'm concerned. I guess there's something to be said to the old saying that a firmer seat is more comfortable for longer rides.

I agree completely! I have enjoyed a Corbin on a past bike, but have been unhappy with the two Triumph seats I've used.

Funny, I know, but a firmer seat really is better for long distance riding.

Dan I'd make you a deal on my Corbin Young Guns Saddle, but I think it would look awful funny on a Touring. LOL :p
