HI All
Have a 2009 R3 with 50k on the clock. Riding the other day and it suddenly kept kicking out of gear to Neutral.....will hold a gear (any of them) for a bit but drops out often. With 50K on it and original clutch my first thought was clutch but its not slipping at all, so leaning toward detent spring but also could be worn forks/etc in transmission......
1) Ruling out clutch as not acting like a clutch issue but this bike throws me curves...but if Im a betting man Id say no.
2) Detent spring-If Im pulling the clutch plates, the detent location is past the basket so just some extra steps but first time crossing this path so not sure what its symptoms are as what I can find on net seems to leave toward it dropping in 2nd gear.....mine is dropping in all and when trying to get back into a gear, any of them it sometimes just clicks a ton of time before finding one.
3) Being a 2009 and if it's the gear box ...it may be headed down the bike parts road....
Thoughts as this is a deep hole no matter what direction I go as I have pulled the front of the bike to replace the clutch actuator which was a bug Job for a 35 dollar insane part.....if Im tearing off the front again, and it's the detent, will do clutch anyway. My concern is the trying to find a gear and just getting clicks until it finds one.
