Still breaking in my new Rocket Classic. Now have almost 500 miles on her. 8)

Have been wondering about something though. Normally, one would think that all three exhaust manifold pipes would be of the same color. Mine are not. The lead cylinder's exhaust manifold is getting dark and blue, the one behind it is getting semi-dark, and the last one in the rear is hardly dark at all. I took a picture of this.

Is this normal? Is their a variance in fuel/air mixture between the carbs that would be represented by this?

All three of mine colored about the same.
your motor is preset from the factory to run lean.
when I pulled my exhaust manifolds off a few weeks back I noticed my front cylender was running way rich, my middle one was just right, and the rear one was too lean.
a quick dyno and everythings right now.

Interesting. So if I take it into the dealer, will they check/correct this or is it assumed that the factory setting is acceptable to them?

You can have your dealer check the throttle body synchronization to be sure. The discoloring is normal, the pipes aren't meant to be eye candy (why most of us put the flange covers on).

The back cylinder if running rich won't discolor like the first two since the pipe is running cooler. The injection is set lean on purpose to meet EPA requirments (which is why if you change any part of the intake or exhaust the bike's ECM must be reprogrammed to avoid too lean piston holing.)
