I'll be riding from Augusta GA to ST louis, then completeing 1000 miles from ST louis to Spear fish SD
If you go to the website you can read all about the event, and If you choose you can sponsor me by submiting a donation TO FISHER HOUSE indicating me as the supported rider when you donate.
(its all explained on the site)
There is some great Videos, music, photos and details on the site as well.

I guess I should clarify, 100% of donations go to Fisher House, I'm paying for all my ride expenses....including the Entry fee.. I typed the previous message in a hurry.

and if you don't want to participate please check out Fisher House for future donation consideration.

and feel free to wave at me as I go by or catch me at a fuel stop ( doubt I'll get my Longrange tank in time)
and I apprecieate teh offers of escorting me through various citys that I've recieved.

Thank you
REGULATOR

BTW all donations will need to be sent in before June 1st 2008 in order for me to recieve credit for the competition portion, after that they will still be accepted of course, I just won't get credit for the competition portion..

winner gets a small token trophy and has to do all the admin for next year!!

please put my name REGULATOR and Georgia Chapter when you indicate rider sponsored, you can PM me if you have detailed questions or need more info then what was available on the website....

thanks

check out the site even if you have no plans to donate, there is some cool stuff on it,
might even see a photo of me or my rocket :)

this will also be a good chance for you to come out and see Sams Predator 3-1 Chromex pipes!!!

Liek I said, you don't need to ride, but I would apprecieate any support you could do by donating to the Fisher house by following the website instructions

here is a quote from the site:

A Prolog to this Event.

I am not a scholar of History nor an intellectual of life , But only a proud American Veteran.
Who has served in War, at the directive of my Government. That government was elected by it?s citizens, my fellow Americans. YOU!
As I grew up, my concept of what and who were Heroes was etched into my being, and reconfirm by my fellow Americans and peers . I watched old news clips of the "Boys" coming home from WWII to cheers and hugs and most of all RESPECT.I saw and heard how they were held in High regard and accorded a little extra advantage when applying for work or getting that table at the full restaurant. In other words their sacrifices and deeds in war had earned them the respect they deserved.
It was these images and actions along with a steady diet of John Wayne and Hollywood?s acknowledgement of those deeds. The good guy wears the white hat and always wins to get the girl or saves the day for the weaker. That gave me the desire to be a soldier.
My sports heroes were men who showed the youth of our country a value system which included words like HONOR, COURAGE, DEDICATION, and working as a team. All of the necessary ingredients to be a great Soldier . This was the America I grew up in. We had respect for our Mom's and Dad's and all of our elders. We knew who God was and how to show respect to our Flag.
Through out history it is shown and proven the health of a Nation has always been in the hands of her warriors. For when Statesmanship fails it all comes down to them.
Also that the caliber of warriors has always been molded by the way a Nation treats her veterans, and molds her Children.
.
Respect to all my fellow Veterans and Soldiers;

no comments?

any suggestions for long distance riding tips?

does everyone know what fisher house is?

The Fisher House™ Program helps military families in their times of need. Supporting America's military in their time of need, we provide "a home away from home" that enables family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time -- during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. Our soldiers, who have made the commitment and sacrifices with honor to protect this great Nation have been sent to war to protect the American way of life. Members of Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will ride 1000 miles in a 24 hour time frame, to raise funds specifically for The Fisher House™ Program.
We will be seeking sponsors to pledge donations which are tax exempt for our riders. The proceeds will be going to The Fisher House™ Program, providing assistance to the families and spouses of our wounded warriors while at the VA and military hospitals.
Your generous donation or pledged donation to each rider that request sponsorship for the 1000 mile challenge will be documented at the beginning of the challenged miles and at the end of the challenged miles. Verification of the rider’s completion shall be available through the C.V.M.A. web site.

had trouble with site for donation a few nights ago reg... ill try again. all you captains . these guys have paid the price to protect this country.. it's time to antie up and pay them back.

Thanks Sam, every little bit counts, and call or email if you have questions.

theres a link to email Bombdog himself and he will sort anything out, ( he is the guy behind the scenes on this event)

the website looks better everyday, but the guy doing it is building it in his free time.

there are also address to mail in... if you think about it, throw my name in there somewhere as rider supported But if not, I'm happy that Fisher House gets the money.

have no fear about the donation 100% will go to fisher house..

I think If I solicit the most donations I get a prize of some sort from the group.. like a funny prize...t shirt or patch or something... Either way, I'll be riding...

to those that have or will donate... THANK YOU. if not, read about Fisher house and consider them in the future... I'd rather you give to them outside of the timeframe of my little event then not at all. thats why we are doing this to raise Money AND Awareness

remember always support the Soldier and families.

Lets keep this thread going please... Like I said, If you can donate before June 1st Great, if not donate on your own anyway...If you live near a base at all look up Fisher house in the phone book and ask for a tour, if you can leave without a tear in your eye and without writing a check/reaching for your wallet your a hard hard man.

I'm not asking for much ( actually not asking for anything it all goes to Fisher House)

If you don't or can't give ( some of you old farts are on pension I know :)) at least share the website with your buddies maybe then can toss some in the hat

http://lrrp-ironbutt.com/home.html the website is gettign updated all the time
