Infrared Thermometer question

My wife has complaint about heat on foot from right exhaust and I want to play with shielding. Would like accurate readings and plan to buy infrared thermometer. Don't know maxiumum heat range needed. Also looking for brand recommendations. There is a lot of junk out there.

Just had a look at mine - bought off e-bay. Cannot remember how much now, but I didn't think it was dear at the time.

Has MT500 on it, no other names or numbers.

Measures from -25c to 520c (-13 to 968f).

Gives me very accurate measurements of exhaust, or anything I choose to point it at
