Hello Mike and welcome from Virginia. When I saw you posted you were stuck, I rememebered learning that one should not ride their R3T in soft sand. But I see that is a different kind of stuck than what you are referring to.
Good luck on the swap and thanks for helping dad, it always warms my heart to here family and friends turning two and lending a helping hand...

Thanks for the quick responses and warm welcomes. I should have been more careful writing a topic late a night.

The 2005 bike that had the blown engine is a 2005 Rocket III Standard, it has what I believe is a neutral switch with a two pin connector right near the drive shaft at the back of the engine/transmission. The replacement engine is from a 2008 Rocket III Standard, it's neutral switch has a slightly different internal design and has a three pin connector. I assume I will need to splice the wiring somehow. The service manual I have from triumph doesn't specify wiring enough for me to figure it out. I will be uploading photos later tonight. Thanks for the help!

My understanding is that the engines themselves are the same so here's a thought; pull the switch (whatever it's called) from the '05 engine and stick it into the '08 engine. If it works you're golden, If it doesn't then start figuring out how to splice the '08 switch into the '05 wiring loom. Just my $0.02

i would also use the 05 gps. for whats its worth my 07 has one sensor wire going to comp and a ground wire going to comp and looking at the dia. its got a wire coming off the ground going to the instruments for the neutral light.

So the one on the left is from the 2008, the one on the right is 2005. I think I can use the spring and tip piece from the 2005 now that I've measured both pieces. Hopefully it will work. Now i just have to find the missing pin piece.

It's my understanding there was a random issue with the 2005 transmission second gear being weak. I was told there is some kind of upgrade piece from triumph that they will send out if you go to a dealer for the repair. I am going on second hand info on this so I apologize for any inaccuracies.

G'day and welcome.

Click on the link below for a manual, which will cover both engines.

i think u might mean your other left
my 07 looks like the gps on the right
i would use the 08 gps on the right with the spring and pin. and then deal with the wires.
