I decided unwisely to do the ignition switch relocation before this weekend's trip.

Got frustrated trying to stand on my head and tap out the bolts on the ignition switch. Didn't have any wheels for my small rotary tool, so I decided to do the next dumbest thing; air chisel.

Although I was quite careful with it to make sure it didn't slip and cause damage, I managed to break the lock. More specifically, a small metal actuating arm in the switch (drives the electrical portion of the switch).
:pullhairout:

So now my ignition switch is relocated. (It's also zip tied on and requires a screwdriver shaped key) And I'm off to the Salvo with a jury-rigged ignition switch.

Will I ever learn?

Anyone have a buggered ignition switch that I can steal a part from?

Cal, I have a GGGG Grandmother who was transported to America before Australia was discovered.

I think you must be a direct descendant and we are related, cos you did something that sounds just like what I do.

I used a cold chisel to loosen the bolts then put a small socket on the end of the bolt to undo them(the friction was enough to undo them). It was a little fiddly but worked ok.

I have the upper half of the ignition switch (the keyed end) with keys. Is that what you need?

Did you have electrical failure with your switch and used your old key cylinder to keep it the same as the gas cap?

If so, let me know what you want for the mechanical portion, I'm thinking I may steal the part I need and salvage my switch for the same reason.
I'd ultimately like to go keyless, but that will be a winter project.
I drank too much at the salvo to be a good student for idk.
