Had a major issue with my ignition failing, took it into Triumph Moss St. where I bought the bike, this morning to make arrangements to get it fixed.

Saw Stewie, on the service counter. said yes it is a recognised issue and will be corrected under warranty.

Stewie didn't want me to ride the bike with the problem not fixed as it could be dangerous.

Had a switch in stock so will do it today.

Had a loan bike (scrambler) so can have that for today.

Wow.... :D

a huge improvement on my last visit...

Good to hear you're being looked after. You'll have fun with that Scrambler. I was given a Bonnie once; felt like a toy but I did enjoy it.

Binnsy what was the out come of your ignition failure. Did they just replace the switch with another one the same. Had my R3R in Springwood on friday for service and recall. Asked Stewy about ignition failure he said head light relays wont fix the problem. Every triumph with that switch has the same problem. I replied that they probably have twin head lights drawing current through them. He said na trust me Ithink he might be full of ****. Tried to talk to a mechanic on sat when I picked bike up but only tire fitter was there. Binnsy was that your R3R with victorian plates on it at team moto on thurs evening.

G'day Mate my 2010 Roadster was subject to a recall for ignition failure, To the best of my knowledge they replace and added a loom repair kit supplied by triumph. the second part was to remove and tighten ignition switch. So far so good except for the annoying rattle thats getting louder from the clutch.

If the light circuit is still going through the switch it will fail again. Adding the Eastern Beaver kit will eliminate that. You can also rig your own setup with a couple relays some wire and patience. This mod removes the amp load on the switch. If the Triumph mod moves the light circuit out of the ignition switch then all is well, if not, buy the EB kit.

As far as I can determine the Triumph mod has only one 4-blade relay that is spliced into the loom between the Starter Relay and the dip switch - this does mean the high headlight current bypasses the ignition switch.

Well told yesterday if after triumph wire and relay fix fails to stop ignition faults they replace the ignition switch as it may have been damaged from the original faults in the first place. Now to wait and see if the faults occur again. Dealer says faults have been registered and if occurs again Triumph will replace ignition switch under warranty.

Bruce, I understand that the switch replacement has had the problem fixed. Something about bad solder joints I believe Stewie said, melted some plastic junk???

All seems good now (fingers crossed).

No, that wasn't my bike, I picked mine up same day and have Qld. plate...

What are the signs of the ignition switch problems coming on.

Switch at first wouldn't power up, but with a jiggle came to life...

Then motor started cutting out on the road, telltale ignition lights came on immediately after.

Then progressively got worse to the point where I could get no power at all.

I rode for 2500 kms like that, mine started to play up on my big ride and no-one would try to fix it .... Said the only fix was a new switch or bypass the switch and hotwire it..
