Idle mishap

The other day I started my Rocket and it wouldn't fire. I had to hold the throttle open a bit to get it going and then when it started it wouldn't hold an idle. I shut it off, started it up and it was fine. I had just switched from triple unifilters back to triple K&N's.

This morning I went to fire up the Rocket and got the same thing. Wouldn't hold idle, got some after firing and back firing. It also back-fired through the intake bad enough it about smoked me off the bike. I shut it off and restarted it, the same thing, wouldn't hold idle. So I just gave it some gas and rode it for a few miles. After a few miles of riding it would then hold idle just fine. I have started it twice since then, and it seems fine. Once I was going, it never misfired and it felt just as strong as before, just wouldn't idle.

Does this sound like a TPS issue? It is an '06 classic, original battery. I haven't checked any vacuum lines yet.

The three vacuum lines will do that if crimped the ones from the MAP to the throttle bodies .they will make it hunt as well

it doesn't sound like a TPS issue.
When you say it wouldn't hold Idle,
was it idleing up between 2,400-3,200 RPM's?
Mine would start and immedeatly go to 3,000 RPM's.
When riding and downshifting,
it wouldn't come down below that 3,000 mark,
unless I brakes her hard and almost lugged the motor down,
then if I stayed on the brake, it's come down for turns or downhill.
then as soon as I'd let off the brake she'd go back up to 3,000-3,200.

It sounds like MAP signal (vacuum lines).

Pull up the sensor signals displayed in TuneBoy with the engine running, and you will likely have your answer.

Mine wouldn't idle right after I started it the other day, I blamed it on the heat.
