Ok I'm about to buy the 2009 Tour At least I think I am
I have been hearing stories about chronic repair issues with the R3
The break down frequently and are expensive to keep up .
Please tell me this isn't true ! What issues can I expect if any ?
I appreciate your honest responses ! True or false ?
Thanks

Tom

Buy one under warranty, Tommy and it's essentially a moot issue!

BTW, welcome to the site from New Jersey!

Only minor issues and they are not consistent with all the Rockets..no paint can rattle or imput shaft bearing issues with my 08..just pannier rails, gear position sensor, fuel gauge acuracy and tire recall were it with mine..all taken care of with dealer in timely fashion..Buy It..you will not be sorry!! I have over 14500 miles since august 08 and have never lost a day of riding!!

Tommy, I bought my 2008 R3T last fall. Only 1500 miles so far. **** snow. No issues. I don't see any horrible upkeep problems. Tune ups are far apart. Tires might be frequent depending on your right hand. I like the bike. I still will be setting it up for myself, as in a new seat and suspension. I came from a BMW RT with a Russell saddle and Ohlins. I guess I'm spoiled. The best thing I've noticed so far is watching guys looking at the bike while I'm having a coffee. It's always the same. "140 cubic inches??? Holy ****!!!!"""":D:D

68k miles on my 05, only issues have been recent, ignition switch failed, and had to replace oil seals at the oil tank connection.

I had a 2006 Rocket III Classic and now I have a 2008 Rocket III Tourer. No problems with either. Go for it! :D

I've got about 6,700 miles on my '09 Classic and she's only been in for routine maintenance and one stop to make up for a bonehead owner.
Your beast will treat you just as well as you treat it.

My 08 with 16k has had the ignition switch replaced and regular maintenance ... I certainly wouldn't say that R3's are prone to excessive maintenance.

had a 06 classic only problem was blown head gasket at bout 13000 miles and totaled bike at bout 28000 headgasket repaired under warrenty
now have a 08r3t tire recalled at the beging so u should have no issu with that and blownhead gasket at 9000 repaied under warrenty
and stb has a 08 r3t and no problems with hers
which ever u decide on u will enjoy and never frown again

I have an 06 Classic bad TPS numerous clutch liftershafts 4 of them, two bad pistons two bad cylinder liners uprgrade kit on Tranny rear out put bearing in backwards (but never leaked), 7 rear tires 4 front, I have 41K on mine and over 13K of thrashing once I installed the blower:eek:
befor ethe blower well just a Bad TPS sensor
Wouldn't trade her for the world
Dyno tuning on thurday and sport bike eating all for the week after in Daytona Beach:D
