All 19 pgs of "the lower cam chain blew up"... whew!

Good job by you extreme wrenchheads!

Is this partialy what was ultimately addressed with Triumph's "Upgrade Kit" or do those of us who might buy an R3 out of warranty still have what to worry about?

This would not be encouraging to the prospective buyer unless Triumph has successfully resolved the issue!

I personally would not buy a used Rocket that is out of warranty unless it could be verified that the engine/transmission upgrades had been done. If you're the original owner or still have warranty when purchased, and if you have a stand-up dealer, I think you would be OK.

Yo, Bobby!! What's up? How's the ol' grey ghost running? I've got to ping ya the next time we head out to Crabtree Falls Rd (Hwy 56).

Bobby should know about the cam chain issue alright.

After starting this thread, I spoke to the seller's dealership for the soon-to-be-mine 2007 R3 Std and learned that they had performed the complete upgrade service. So, the bike should be reasonably bulletproof I would think.

Yo, James! Anytime you're out this way, feel free. As far as my Rocket, I've put 9000 miles on it in the year since the upgrade kit/engine rebuild, including a 2000 mile run to Wyoming. Bike is running good.
