I guess I made it...

Got this email today...

Anybody else do any endurance riding?

I recently (last week) completed my first IBA saddle sore 1000. (The documentation will be mailed to IBA in a day or so.)
My ride was 1028 miles from Pleasanton Ca to Elko NV and back.
I left at 3:30 am and returned at 8:55 that evening.

My butt is still sore! But I'd do it again. A heck of a challenge.

Congratulations on your ride.

Planning my next one now. Talking to a buddy about doing the SS 3000...3000 miles in three days. Basically get on I-10 and ride to either coast then turn around and ride home. Trying to get a few of these in to prepare for the Ironbutt Rally in 2017...they advertise 11,000 miles in 11 days. Should be fun

My suggestion-for what its worth.
Try to schedule your ride so your ridding east at sundown. I know in my case I was riding west out of the Sierras into the Sacramento Valley area at sundown and it was a *****. I was tired and riding into the sun. I'll try to make sure that does not happen again. The morning ride into the sun at sunup didn't seem to bother me. Maybe just not tired?

Building your resume for the IBR is very important. Also, attending and volunteering at IBA events is equally important. Getting your face recognized by the IBA staff goes a long way to getting selected for the IBR. 2017 may be ambitious. I'm shooting for the 2019 IBR.

If you are serious about getting into LD riding, navigate to the IBA Mileeater page to learn up on the various ME levels. The SS3000 is one of the critical qualifying runs. I wish that I were closer as I would join you.
