Roughly what is the total brake fluid capacity, or how much should I have on hand for a complete flush?

I just flushed my front and rear brakes with less than a pint. The fluid in the front was a little amber colored but clean. The stuff that came out of the back looked pretty skanky.

I think Fred is right. 8 oz. should be enough. I buy a gallon jug of DOT 4 and do all my vehicles with that at the same time. I am a little OCD.

I use a syringe to empty the reservoir and refill it with new fluid. Then loosen the nipples and push new fluid through until it is clear. A few ounces will do. This should be done once a year.
