I agree with what your saying Hellfire but i am going to try tune ecu with my bike because from what ive been told the pcIII isnt compatible with my rocket being a 09 model and the pcv isnt ready yet. "if anyone has a pcIII on a 09 and im wrong please set me straight" I will probably change to the pcv when available and a dyno tune but i need something temp because i did the k&n tors cat secondaries and gpro atre + o2 sensor and will run 2 lean. However the one thing im not sure i agree on is that its easier to change back the powercomander cant i save my original tune with tune ecu and simply reload it at will?
again im new to this stuff so correct me if im wrong

Hey Mitch, looks like you can use a PCIII on later models after all. It seems that Power Commander doesn't list the compatibility because they planned on the PCV being ready long before now and just haven't tested the PCIII on those later years.
I talked to another 2009 owner that went ahead and installed the PCIII because he was sick of waiting for the PCV and it worked fine. According to him, he had been writing and pestering them on the phone about when the PCV was coming out. The conversations moved to the PCIII and why it wouldn't work if the connections were the same, they told him about the testing and why it wasn't listed as compatible on their website chart.
It's something to check into further if you are still waiting for the V, I'm just repeating what the guy told me but it sure sounds logical. I have one on my 2008 and at the time I bought and installed it, there was no compatibility listing for it either. In fact the box and user instructions lists it "For 2004-2007 Triumph Rocket III".
He did mention that he was told the 2009's have different ECM base tunes than prior years, so he didn't trust any canned tunes. He went straight to the shop and had it custom dyno tuned because of that.

Has anyone else heard this?

For assurances reasons there is a limitations to 72 KW in Germany and Belgium and for nobody knows why reason of 78KW in France . That why a lot of us are interrested in Tune Ecu !

as far as fine tuning my rocket III on a dyno, i don't see that happening until i'm comfortable with rolling on the throttle all the way through all gears from first to sixth. honestly, it scares the hell out of me and the only mods i can see are that my 08 classic has the tors and cat delete. as far as increasing the power, i won't be concerning myself with that till i can use all it's got, so in short, i don't see that happening anytime soon. the rocket is aptly named.
