Worth cleaning the stepper motor & resetting the TPS ( Tuneboy/Tuneecu or dealer can do it) a temporary fix that later fails again , means TPS knackered.

Yep. a little more info would yield a lot more help.

Some general info:

If you have a 2007 or earlier, most likely you have a primary tps with a black interior (not visible when mounted). If so, they tend to develop more or less a "flat spot" around the point where you cruise the most. On mine is was about 2200 rpm which was roughly 60-65 mph.

Replace with a primary tps with a blue interior and the problem should be solved.

also, just to head off other problems, clean the crank angle sensor.

If you decide to change the tps yourself, TuneECU can help you with the install and adjustment.

Sorry, it's an 05.
Here's the story.
Sent it to dealer for the idle recall found a power comander in it so they said they can't get the idle correct so they would like to remove PC. They removed PC set the idle all stock. Ran good for a couple of runs and after riding for about 45 mnts. Idle rose to about 1700 and stayed there. Turned off, restarted, was ok for a while than rose again. Started again after few days and idle rose too about 1700 after a couple of minutes of riding. Made appt. With dealer but not confident with dealers competence on R3s. Cleaned the sensor but did not help. That's the whole poop.

I believe you, I have more confidence here than at the dealers. The dealer I go to has a great bunch of guys, but when I talk to them sometimes I wonder about their knowledge of the R3 workings.
Btw. How much was the TPS?
