I started off with a 2005 rocket, I put nearly 17500 miles on it. It developed a engine problem after the twoyear warranty period was up. I traded it in to get a brand new one again 07 classic tourer. The most important thing for you to do would be to be certain of the lower timing chain sprocket condition. and buy an extended warranty to cover the engine/drivetrain. So do they have alot of engine trouble,is the lower timing chain problem common on rockets or 05 models

In reality it is probably a small percentage. Triumph has been very good with warranty work. A few here that had problems out warranty still got it fixed on Triumph's dime.

I would say overall there are not too many troubles with the bike as a whole. But there were a few sequencial run of units that had bad bottom timing chain sprocket keys in the keyway. Triumph would fix this problem if it is still under warranty. The problem is detectable by listening to the engine sounds. If it has a sound that resembles ( the shaking of a paint can with a steel ball ). There are many posts on this site about timing chain / or paint can rattle. you might want to read these and familiarize yourself what to look/listen for when you check this bike out. Rademis

They are a Triumph dealer??

http://www.ppofc.com/ They want you to call for "custom" pricing. Expect them to chop 1.5 to 2k off MSRP. And I'd expect more on an '06. New bikes with 2 year/unlimited mile warranty.

Captain Status pending but we're still glad you're here checking on the possibilities of owning [ but never taming ] the beast!

I think you're our first one from Kentucky. My mom's siblings and parents came from Greenup and I lived in Ratcliff when I was stationed at Ft. Knox.

Im gonna buy one,as soon as I sell my bike and get my tax return refund,Im just trying to dig and find out what year is having the least problems,I looked at a new classic or tourer I think it took away from the looks,but I like the more agressive look,the whole timing chain engine thing is scary !!!!!!!!!!

For What It's Worth

I forgot to say I have an 05 built around January of that year. Knock on wood, but so far it's been a jewel. No paint can noise and running as slick as snot on a door knob!

Whatever year or model you decide...... you'll have more fun than a human being should be allowed.
