I did not back out "yet". Since I wasn't on any of the lists I figured I could sneak out without anyone noticing. You noticed....so I guess I can't hide in the background anymore! I told the wife I was thinking about calling and canceling my room and then making a post about it. If I changed my mind and all looked good as I got down to the date I would call the Red Roof and see they had anything available. I'm going to decide between now and Monday, so don't give up hope on a room. I believe there is an extra bed in the room anyway in case someone needed a spot. I don't snore!!

I haven't gotten a call from the manager yet as he said he would call the end of April. For all I know I'm not on his list either. I know some others might be waiting on a room, so I'll make a post on Monday as I don't want to hold things up and and he will still have time to give others call. Sorry for staying out of the conversation. The late spring has messed with all our plans...we haven't even had the new 5th wheel out yet!

You got that right! I was hoping to get a trip in before the RAA to see if I was up for the long ride. That hasn't happened with the cold and rain. I even did some prep work creating some gpx routes to and from the devils triangle as well as others. I'll keep people posted about the room as I will be calling Monday one way or another.

Gary called our house last night, and I reached him in person this morning. So suggest you call either first thing in the morning, or fairly late in the evening. We plan to arrive Thursday the 17th mid-afternoon, for three nights, checking out Sunday morning the 20th.

Don't worry about calling the hotel. If you don't make it post here. Whoever gets your room can make the call and just cancel for you while reserving for themselves. I already told Gary not to worry about calling everyone. We would handle the cancellations here since he don't have phone service much

All y'all dropping out for a job. I turned down a job so I could make this party. It was in Alabama anyway. I don't like the idea of having state taxes taken out of my pay.

Really let me explain a few things. Have worked military aircraft as a certified welder for a few years. Matter of fact since 1999. Now I have the opportunity to work directly with the D.O.D. Been working it for the last two months. Have been interviewed and reviewed for the job Took a very involved weld test for the job. Lets let it all out. Stainless. Aluminum., titanium, copper, brass, mild steel and high carbon steel. Not your average metal burner job. The job requires a secret clearance. Have received the clearance in record time. You starting to get the picture here? Yes would love to make the run but life goes on. Took a physical for the job Friday. last and final interview is on the 18th of May.This job makes the folks with even a B.A. degree blush with envy. Nothing else to be said.

It has been a long hard ride. For a welder this is the job of a life time. I got a real bad attitude when it comes to how people view BLUE COLLAR workers at times. Spent a lot of time in the military. Funny thing is they never revered to me as sir just "CHIEF" Continued the same in the real world.
